Organization

The Department of Diagnostic Radiology at SSSIHMS, Bangalore consists of a core department including general diagnostic radiology, CT, MRI, angio/interventional, neuro-radiology, ultrasound.

Affiliated Hospitals

The hospital has three sister concerns: Sri Sathya Sai General hospital located in Whitefield, Bangalore; Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, a Specialty hospital located in Prasanthigram, Andhra Pradesh having Urology, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics; and Sri Sathya Sai General hospital in Puttaparthi. The DNB candidates are deputed to all the hospitals periodically for exposure in all the clinical specialties.

Case Volume

The Radiology facility at Bangalore does an annual exam load of approximately 25,000. This is well divided between inpatient and outpatient examinations predominantly neuro-radiology. The affiliated hospitals provide access to another 40,000 examinations. With a full complement of four residents, this makes for adequate teaching material per resident.

Intake

The department is accredited to take 2 Primary candidates (who have completed their MBBS) and 2 post-DMRD candidates.

Imaging Technology

The department offers all radiological services using state-of-the-art equipment. The hospital has a high-performance MRI system with echo planar imaging, a sophisticated angio\interventional suite that meets sterility requirements for operating room procedures if needed, MD CT, Ultrasonography.

Stipend

During their training, candidates are paid stipend as per the National Board Guidelines. In keeping with the philosophy of Sathya Sai Institutions, the course is offered Free of Cost.
