DNB Programs at SSSIHMS Bangalore:

Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Bangalore is accredited by National Board of Examinations, New Delhi, to conduct Post-Graduate training in Super Specialties such as Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgery, Cardiology, Neurosurgery and Broad Specialties such as Anesthesiology and Radio-Diagnosis culminating in a DNB degree. The DNB degree is equivalent of MCh/DM for Super Specialties and MD for Broad Specialties. Keeping the Founder’s Philosophy that Education should be given ‘Free of Cost’, these Programs are offered to all eligible doctors free of cost. Till date more than 5 batches of successful DNB trainees have passed out from the portals of the Hospital. The Hospital is proud of having three of its’ students securing Gold Medals in DNB Cardiology and CTVS programs.

At Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences Residents and faculty are partners in a mutually respectful learning experience that is committed to excellence. It is the intent of the program to understand and to respect the physical, intellectual and emotional resources of each DNB Resident as an individual, and to assist the Resident in successfully completing the educational requirements for obtaining the Degree.

The Hospital plays host to a large number of visiting consultants from within and outside the country from whom Residents can learn about the latest developments in their fields. We also have a state-of-the- art ‘video conferencing’ facility to enable our Residents to interact with experts across the globe.

Our team of surgeons and physicians see one of the largest and most diverse patient populations in the country. Therefore the DNB Residents get exposed to the entire gamut of consultations and operations during their training period. Residents are expected to participate in basic clinical research projects and are encouraged to present and publish their findings at national meetings and in leading journals.

All of our patients are seen as being equally precious, providing us with opportunities both to serve and to learn. The Residents are taught to uphold the dignity, safety and comfort of the patients in all their interactions.

Goals of the DNB Program:

Competence:

Residents will learn to deliver excellent and comprehensive health care in their respective Specialties.

Quality:

The Resident will learn the skills of quality improvement, utilization management and risk management in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The system taught will assure that high quality care is provided in a cost effective manner.
