Coming From Outside Bengaluru

Practical guidance for patients and attendants travelling a long way for treatment.

Before You Travel

Do Not Set Out Without an Appointment

All OP consultations are by prior appointment. Call the Patient Help Desk on +91 80 4710 4600, 10 AM to 4 PM Monday to Friday, and you will receive an SMS with your date and time. Gate entry is staggered between 7 AM and 10 AM, so a confirmed appointment lets you plan your travel and shorten your stay in the city.

Bring all previous records
Both from other hospitals and any given to you by SSSIHMS.
Bring proof of address
Aadhaar preferred; ration card, voter ID, driving licence or passport are accepted. A passport is compulsory for foreign nationals.
One attendant is compulsory
For every in-patient, one attendant must remain on campus and will be issued a pass by the ward sister.
Consider tele-consultation first
If you have been advised remotely, you may not need to travel at all. The Help Desk can advise.
While You Are Here

Where Attendants Stay

On-campus accommodation is provided only for the attendants of admitted in-patients. It is dormitory accommodation in the Sai Salarpuria block.

What to do on the day of admission

  1. Once the patient is admitted, go to the administration area and pay the accommodation charge.
  2. Then go to the Sai Salarpuria block, where the dormitory accommodation is.

Charge: ₹20 per day. This is for the attendant’s dormitory bed only. The patient’s treatment, medicines, surgery, intensive care and food remain entirely free.

If you are coming only for an OP consultation

There is no accommodation on campus for outpatients or their families. Please arrange your own stay in Bengaluru before you travel, or plan to return the same day. Gate entry appointments are staggered between 7 AM and 10 AM, so a confirmed appointment lets you plan a single day’s visit.

One attendant is compulsory
For every admitted patient, one attendant must stay on campus. The ward sister issues the pass.
Additional attendants
Allowed only where the patient is immobile, has a disability or needs help moving about, and only on a doctor’s instruction.
In the Neuro ward
Attendants are expected to be present during consultants’ and doctors’ rounds.
Visitors
General visiting hours are 4 PM to 6 PM. The attendant exchanges their pass for a visitor pass at Security, Gate I.
