Inauguration of SSSGH at SSSIHMS Campus

Today marks a landmark event in the history of Sri Sathya Sai Healthcare mission. The Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital which was functioning in an separate building on Whitefield main road has been shifted into the premises of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences (SSSIHMS), Whitefield campus. However, the Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital will continue to function as an independent entity. All infrastructural requirements of various specialties to meet their respective functional needs have been provided. This will ensure that the quality of care is enhanced and the number of patients treated is maintained. The General Hospital operating rooms, labour suite and wards are located in the 2nd floor.

Sri H.K. Ramesh Kumar, Honorable Minister for Health and Family welfare, Government of Karnataka was the chief guest. The occasion was graced by Sri Chakravarthy K, Sri Bhagwath T K K, Sri Naganand S S, Sri Ratnakar R J – Trustees, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust and Sri Prasad Rao, Secretary, Sri Sathya Sai Central. The Senior functionaries of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Karnataka and Sri Sathya Sai Trust, Karnataka were among the large multitude of doctors & devotees who were present for the function.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Sundaresh D C, Director, SSSIHMS, Whitefield welcomed the staff of general hospital and enumerated the advantages of this shift. He said that the patients will be able to get comprehensive care under one roof and also have access to the high end diagnostic modalities. The doctors will have access to World class facilities to deliver the care. He said that several initiatives have been taken to ease the workflow, so that the increased patient load can be accommodated without inconveniencing the patients.

Dr. Upendra Acharya, Medical Superintendent, Sri Sathya Sai General Hospital elaborated on the magnitude of work being done by the various departments in the General Hospital for the last 40 years. He highlighted the unique model of the hospital, where more than 50 eminent consultants have been volunteering their services by visiting on a weekly or monthly basis, many of whom have been coming for the last 2-3 decades. With this move, we will be able to utilize the shared resources of diagnostic, engineering and IT services, and also work synergistically with Cardiac and Neuro specialists to provide comprehensive care, he added. He hoped that in near future both Super Speciality hospital & Multispecialty Hospital would develop into a Super Mutli specialty hospital.

Sri S S Naganand, Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust said this move will definitely benefit both the hospitals and that Trust is committed to further the cause of patient care.

Sri H K Ramesh Kumar, Honorable Health Minister of Karnataka gave an over view of the current healthcare scenario and said that he would take the commendable work being done by Sri Sathya Sai Hospitals as model for improving the functioning of the Government healthcare delivery system.

Following the Chief Guest’s address, a short audio clip of Divine Discourse given by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba on 26th January, 2002 in SSSIHMS, Whitefield was played. In the discourse, He mentioned that, in future, we would have a General Hospital here as patients have to go different places to get their medical issues resolved.

The program concluded with Mangala arathi.

Following the function, the Trustees inaugurated the operation theatres for the general specialties, labour suite, inpatient ward, & Dental Clinic. They also visited the out patient department & other facilities of the hospital.

Earlier in the day all the staff of the hospital participated in the rudrabhishekam  performed in the central dome area to invoke Bhagawan’s blessings.
